Frank Capra & The American Dream (working title)

A Ten Thousand 86 Production for Sony Pictures Worldwide Acqusitions
Status - Pre-Production
Director - Matt Wells

A new feature length documentary about the man who above all others was responsible for promoting Columbia Pictures from poverty row to one of the major studios of Hollywood’s golden age. Capra’s films did more to raise the spirits of depression weary America than any Roosevelt fireside chat. As we explore these unique films, we will follow their connections to the time in which they were made and to Frank Capra’s own life. We will find in their plots echoes of his story, and see in their often-contradictory values resonances with his own internal conflicts.

May West : Boxer in a Corset

A Ten Thousand 86 and Faction North co-production
Status - Development
Director - Virginia Heath

A bold hybrid documentary that reveals the Hollywood comedy star’s unexplored connections with, and debt to, Queer and African American Cultures, in 1920s America. With humour and style, the film will celebrate how her controversial, ground-breaking, yet little-known work as a playwright, formed her and made her name, before she became a star, and still inspires artists and audiences today.

Sex Kitten : Britt Eckland (working title)

A Ten Thousand 86 and Mantaray Films co-production
Status - Development
Director - Hannah Berryman

Britt was perhaps the ultimate sex kitten of the late 60s and 70’s, both in her films and as one of the most photographed woman of her time. Her life has been defined by this image and by the men drawn to it. What was it like to be the woman whose image was so powerful? Our story will be told through interviews with Britt and with those who’ve been close to or worked with her, both in Sweden in LA where our film will be shot. We will also go to Scotland, home of perhaps Britt’s most famous film role.

Martin Scorsese On Powell & Pressburger (working title)

A Ten Thousand 86 and Ice Cream Films co-production
Status - Pre-Production
Director - David Hinton

The Powell and Pressburger story is the tale of two romantics and idealists, men of great artistic courage and ambition, who thrived in the face of adversity during World War II, but were eventually brought low by the commercial film industry of the early fifties. Scorsese will bring to bear his peerless film-maker’s eye to reveal, explain and celebrate the many great qualities of these works: their originality, audacity, complexity, intensity and humour.

Pocket Venus (working title)

Status -Development
Director - Rob Festinger

Pocket Venus is based on the author, Austin Mutti-Mewes, true story of his time with Mildred Shay, an aging socialite and Golden Era Hollywood starlet in the twilight of her life and now residing in a flat in Belgravia.
